Strengthening Public Services with AI

Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU), the government and Cohere will explore AI applications to improve efficiency, security, and responsiveness in public services. The collaboration seeks to leverage advanced AI technologies to support data-driven decision-making and streamline government operations.

Early-Stage Collaboration with Flexibility

The partnership is currently in its exploratory phase, with no formal financial transactions or rigid timelines. This approach allows both parties to identify and implement AI solutions that can address specific challenges within the public sector.

Focus on Data Sovereignty

Cohere’s AI solutions prioritise data sovereignty, ensuring that sensitive information remains under Canadian control. This aligns with national policies on secure digital infrastructure and responsible AI deployment, reinforcing Canada’s commitment to protecting citizens’ data.

Strategic Impact on Canada’s AI Ecosystem

By partnering with a domestic AI innovator, the federal government aims to position Canada as a leader in artificial intelligence. The collaboration underscores a broader strategy to strengthen Canada’s AI ecosystem, encourage responsible innovation, and maintain international competitiveness in emerging technologies.
